oh ... and I bet that San Jose Sharks fans are surprised to see who leads the league in +/- at the midpoint ...
We'd rather not talk about that.

Error was never like that in SJ.

I think you're going to have to stop calling him that ...  ;D
He will forever be Error in the hearts and minds of Sharks fans.

I do wish him the best...just not against us.

I guess its just an error that you let him go ... for free ...

Nah, you can keep him.  I don't miss him being on the ice. I don't miss his destroying the back glass.  I don't miss him putting it in our own net.

Maybe he's great in Vancouver, but he would never have been that way as a Shark.

I wish him the best, I'm glad he's not in teal.  I'm only mildly annoyed we got garbage in return.

You can definitely keep him - his played changed in Vancouver...I would never want the old Error back.

Matt Moulson just scored #18 and #19 against Marty Brodeur, so he still belongs in this conversation. Great signing by Garth Snow.

As well as DiPietro getting a shutout that game.  Gotta say, I didn't really expect him to play this year all things considered.

The Islanders in general have been surprising.

I think Garth is quietly and surprisingly becoming a very good GM.

GM of the year?  It's quite possible.

That team has made some real strides this year, and I think if they can get into the playoffs, it would be a great learning experience for them.

My pick has to be Dustin Penner.Any one else come to mind?

Quick, Moulson, Doughty...they are surprises this year because they are doing something no one thought they could do, so early. Dustin Penner on the other hand was expected to be a 30+ goal scorer and put up 50+ points. He hasn't, this year he finally committed himself to putting away donuts and working out and he's been playing well because of that. That's not a surprise, that's expected. I think people have the meaning of surprise mixed up with something else.

I would say Stamkos too but I was saying it last year that Stamkos would bust out of the gate like Kessel did after having an underwhelming 1st year as well, so that's not a surprise to me either.

Moulson, Quick and Doughty are, as well as Tyler Myers although I saw him play a lot in Kelowna and knew it was just a matter of time.

Drew Doughty....hands down!  My number 2 choice would be Stamkos.

Matt Moulson has played very well and has overachieved but the Icelanders are not going anywhere.  He is not in the conversation although he has done very well, especially for a guy who noone has heard of.

Doughty and Stamkos are having very good years and could be said to be the difference in their team's success.

Doughty was a #2 overall, Stamkos was a #1 overall and you're surprised that they're doing so well? Why am I not surprised?

Where would Colorado be without Craig Anderson?

You're right.  They were #1 and #2 picks.  I am NOT surprised that they are extremely talented hockey players with tremendous upside and potential to be great (which is all a high draft pick is to me).  I am surprised how effective and dominant they have been for their respective teams.  Stamkos is a nice surprise for Tampa since he was not very good in his rookie year although he did improve late in the season.  This year, going against the 'sophmore jinx theory', he has been fantastic.  And as far as Doughty, I am surprised how unbelievable this guy is.  He is playing like a veteran.  This kid is 'that good'.

I am 'surprised' to see these guys playing at this level thus far in their very young careers.

Not in the playoffs, that's for sure.

Well, yes, they reached the level that people were expecting a bit sooner than we might have expected, but I'm not surprised they made the level. Both look like they've been doing it for years. Still, Matt Moulson has 26 goals with a good chance to wind up with 30, when he actually won his roster spot in camp.
