no way in hell i'm gonna pay that much for a TV.

Any studies on the long term effects of watching 3D TV on our eyes or brain? I have trouble believing it wouldn't have negative effects.

I see no reason why it would hurt your eyes any more than 2D.

Every time I watch 3D, my eyes get tired quicker and I'm more likely to get a headache. I feel like it puts a lot of stress on the eyes.

Every new product goes thru that expensive first phase. Some people are just dying to get this technology, and they will pay the big bucks for it. Others, like you and I, are more cautious, and want to see if the product lives up to the hype. After the initial phase, the prices go down to capture a more important segment of the market.

I paid 1000$ for my 52" 1080p TV a year and half ago. It was probably 5000$+ 4-5 years ago. It's just how it works. PS3 was 800$, now it is 299$.

Doesn't everyone have those friends that want to be known as the guy that had something first?

As much as their attitude annoys me...I like being able to test new technology at their house 3-4 years before I buy it!

in the technology industry they are a clearly identified market. Early marketting of new technologies that are still expensive because of the high R&D costs - and even some of their product design elements - are targetted to the cool factor.  This allows them to gain the attention of the 'early adopters' marketplace.

A motorola flip phone for example was first introduced in (I think) 1987 was IIRC over $4K.

I am definitely not an early adopter.

Some douchebag in my dorm got an Xbox360 in his room when it was new, and he suddenly became my friend. One day, he had to ship it back home to his brother. He rebecame a douchebag instantly :)
